House, now shops. Late C18. Stucco scored to imitate ashlar.
Roof of tile.
Elevation along north spur of Market Street is 2 storeys with
one window each. South elevation of No.48, faces the small
square formed by the swelling of Market Street, has 3 storeys
and a one-window range. Only one half of a facing gable on
this elevation; on the left the upper floor is squared out to
form parapet to party wall. Shop fronts to ground floors, each
with an entrance. All openings are flat arched. Casement
windows dating from the C20 on the first floor. The semi-gable
front to No.48 has a canted bay with tripartite windows to
first floor and a another window to top floor. Stack to party
wall.
