Houses, now shops. Late C18 or early C19. Stucco scored to imitate ashlaring on Nos 22, 23 and 24, as well as on right return of Nos 25 and main elevation of No.26; mathematical tiles, painted, to first floor of No.25.

EXTERIOR: Nos 22, 23 and 26 three storeys; No.25 two storeys and dormer; No.24 three storeys and dormer. Nos 22-24 one window each; Nos 25 and 26 two windows each. No.24 has a gambrel roof of tile, No.25 also of tile; the rest are obscured by the narrowness of the street at this point. No.22 much rebuilt in the late C20, from which time dates the shop front and windows, the latter according to a late C19 design. No.23 has remnants of a C19 shop front. Nos 24 and 25 have nearly identical late C19 shop fronts, much rebuilt in the late C20; the projecting cornice and console brackets appear to be original. All windows are flat arched and many have sashes of original design: No.23 8 x 8 to first floor and 4 x 8 to the second; No.24 6 x 6 to first and second floors; No.25 right-hand window with 8 x 8 sashes and a narrow architrave. No.26 has been much rebuilt in the late C20, its shop front to an early C19 design. Guttered eaves to all but No.26 which is topped by a parapet. The return of No.26 has been recently rebuilt according to a C19 design.

These buildings form a most important group with Nos 1-12, 27-41, and 43-53 Meeting House Lane (qv), which is the centre of the section of the Old Town known as The Lanes.
