Boathouse. Designed 1938. Timber-frame with low waney-edged clapboarded walls and half-hipped thatch roof. Single storey, gable facing Lower Street and rear opening onto the dyke. To front a pair of part-glazed garage doors and to long sides are metal casements with leaded lights set in wooden frames with unusual sunk mouldings. To left side are 2 3-lights and to right side under an eyebrow in the thatch a door with 2-light casement either side and beyond a 3-light casement. Facing the dyke a pair of wooden open-work lattice doors closing the wet dock.
INTERIOR. The wet dock has plank-floored walkway round three sides, open framing supporting a collar rafter roof with steel trusses at intervals. Front part to the road boarded.
This finely-crafted boathouse epitomises the development of the Broads in the early part of the C20 for recreational purposes.
