Threshing barn with cow sheds at rear, now 3 houses. c1800,
thought to include earlier structure, with later additions to
rear and conversion c1988. Red brick mainly in English bond on
coursed lias stone plinth with gabled plain-tile roofs.
L-shaped on plan.
EXTERIOR: barn range: 6 bays in two 3-bay sections with
opposing wagon entrances in the central bay of each section,
that to the south side at west has a projecting wagon porch
with hipped roof and brick dentil eaves cornice; openings now
infilled with vertical weatherboarding and glazing. Added
outshuts to either side of wagon porch under catslide roofs.
North wall has inserted C20 entrance to west part with plank
door, also a 3-light window at eaves level; further similar
entrance to east gable end, 2 casements with glazing bars, all
under elliptical arches. Exposed purlins to east gable end.
Cow shed range: in 2 stages of build, has split stable door
under cambered arch and inserted casement windows. To rear
(now main facade) are 5 2- and 3-light casement windows,
entrance a C20 door. Cart entrance, now glazed.
INTERIOR: barn range: pegged king post trusses, double purlins
with wind braces in several bays.
Cart shed range: has 4 collar-and-tie-beam trusses with angle
struts.
Forms a group with Hill House (qv).
