Staddle Stones
II
2 houses, now one house. Probably early C17 in 2 stages of
build with later additions and alterations including
restorations and range at right of c1960. Timber-framed with
plaster infill and plain-tile roof. 3-unit plan.
EXTERIOR: single-storey plus attic; 3-window range. Small
square panels of timber-framing with braces. C20 door right of
centre under hood. One- and 2-light C20 casement windows. 3
full dormers have 2-light casements. Gabled roof half-hipped
at right; rear and end stacks.
INTERIOR: has extensive exposed timber-framing, some wattle
and daub panels, believed to have inglenook fireplace,
possibly renewed.
HISTORY: wheelwright and blacksmith's house in late C17; at
some time known as Fielty House.
