ST5446 THE LIBERTY
662-1/6/309 (East side)
12/11/53 Front boundary wall approximately 10
metres west of No.19

GV II

Boundary wall with piers. Probably early C18. Local stone
random rubble coursed, with ashlar copings and piers. Wall
extends across whole frontage, with moulded roll coping, and
sweeps up to central gateway, with square ashlar gate piers ,
on moulded plinths and with moulded pyramidal caps. Attached
to the northern length of wall are two cast-iron plate
direction signs with raised lettering and pointing fingers,
possibly C19, and probably once attached to a metal post, the
upper reads "Shepton Mallet", pointer, and the lower "Bath"
also with pointer, both indicating a right turn at this point.
