482-1/5/86 Sundial to south-west of Henley Hall

GV II

Sundial. Probably C19 reusing earlier fabric. Ashlar. Single
freestanding Corinthian unfluted column set in circular socket
stone with 4 fluted colonnettes. Column capital surmounted by
sundial block consisting of cube with dial on each face with
metal gnomons at various angles. Weather-vane on cap with
heraldic bird. Important as the focus of fine early C19 formal
rose garden.
