C18; altered. Roughly coursed thin rubble with quoins, all
painted white, with some stone dressings painted black; stone
slate roof. Single-depth 2-unit plan on east-west axis facing
north, with shippon continued at east end, small lean-to
addition to rear of house and long recent lean-to addition
(which is not of special interest) to rear of shippon.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and 4 windows. The ground floor has a
doorway below the 3rd window, an enlarged 3-light window to
the left with painted stone surround and a 3-light mullioned
window to the right also painted. The upper floor has 4
rectangular 2-light casements. Gable chimney to right, ridge
chimney at junction to left. Mounting block attached to front
right corner. The shippon to the left has 3 small square
windows in the front wall (doorway(s) presumably in east gable
wall).
INTERIOR not inspected but likely to contain features of
historical interest.
Forms group with Gawthrop Hall to west (qv) and with Far End
Cottage to north (qv).
