Public house at time of listing. Early C19 with C20 alterations. Diminishing coursed millstone grit with ashlar dressings and hipped slate roof. Three irregularly set stone stacks.

EXTERIOR: three storeys. Market Street front has moulded cornice and quoins. Symmetrical three window range. Central doorway with C20 door and overlight in painted pilaster surround with flat hood flanked by single C20 glazing bar windows. Above three 16-pane sashes and above again three smaller 16-pane sashes. Canted doorway at right corner now blocked, with moulded pilaster surround and corbelled lintel.

Right return to Chapel Street has regular two window range with C20 windows and above two 16-pane sashes, above again two smaller 16-pane sashes. Left return rendered. Rear considerably altered in C20.
