Entrance lodge to Mesnes Park

Entrance lodge to park; Probably 1878; enlarged and altered.
Snecked sandstone with some half-timbering (brick at west end
and rear); slate roofs. Irregular plan. Vernacular Revival
style. One-and-a-half and 2 storeys. The lower left portion
next to the gateway has a projecting gabled porch with
recessed side door and wooden balustrading, and a
half-timbered gable; its gable-end (to the street) has a
boarded window and jettied plastered gable with incised floral
motifs. The 2-storey portion (added), set back to the right,
has a doorway and large rectangular bay window at ground
floor, 2 windows above, and a jettied half-timbered gable
above the bay window. Unoccupied and boarded-up at the time of
the inspection.
