Pair of houses. c1840s. Smooth-plastered mass wall
construction; slate roof, gabled at ends; axial stacks with
brick shafts with corbelled cornices and crested pots.
Cast-iron rainwater goods. Mirror plan pair, each one room
wide, 2 rooms deep with half-basement kitchens and entrances
facing the stair.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. Symmetrical 2:2-window front with some
minor variations between the pair. Pilastered timber doorcases
with dentil friezes and projecting cornices. Pilasters have
incised Greek key decoration, doorcases with panelled reveals.
No.29 has fielded panelled reveals and a 6-panel door (upper
panels glazed) and a blind fanlight with spoke bars. No.28 has
a door with sunk moulded panels and a blind overlight.
Bootscrapers to both houses. All windows have moulded
architraves; 16-pane sashes to the ground floor; 12-pane to
the first floor and 3 over 6-pane to the second floor.
INTERIOR: not inspected but may be of interest.
