Pair of houses with central carriageway, left-hand house
subdivided into flats. c1850. Mass wall construction, stuccoed
and blocked out, the ground floor with chanelled rustication;
slate roof gabled at ends; end stacks, shafts not seen. Outer
front doors face staircases, central carriageway led through
to rear court.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. Symmetrical 5-bay front. Platband at
first-floor level; left and right pilasters to first and
second floor with sunk panels and anthemion decoration; eaves
band. Round-headed outer doorways, the left-hand house with a
C19 6-panel door and plain fanlight, right-hand door (No.21)
replaced. Central carriageway segmental-headed with 2-leaf
plank doors. Ground-floor windows tripartite sashes, No.21
with 12-pane sash in the centre and outer 4-pane sashes;
glazing bars missing from No.23. First-floor windows 16-pane
sashes, the centre window horned. Second floor similar with
blind recess in the centre and some glazing bars missing from
one window.
INTERIOR: not inspected but may retain features of interest.
