House. 1808-10. Stucco with stucco detail; dry slate hipped
roof behind stucco parapet with moulded cornice. Large square
plan with 2 rooms at the front flanking a central entrance
hall.
3 storeys; nearly symmetrical 6-window front with doorway to
3rd from left bay. Original or copy hornless sashes with
glazing bars. Stucco detail includes: channelled rustication
to ground floor with impost string to wide segmental arches
with recessed windows; sill bands and moulded hoods on
consoles to 1st floor. Later open cast-iron and glazed
port-cochere with ornate spandrels. Similar general detail to
5-window left-hand return which is possibly the original front
(facing George Street).
INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest.
Built as officers' accommodation for the naval base.
