CHELTENHAM

SO92SE BOUNCERS LANE 630-1/2/1022 Octagonal Lodge approximately 15m NW of Cemetery Chapels, Cheltenham Cemetery

Lodge. Mid-late C19. Timber with metal roof. Octagonal on plan with alternate sides open and within are benches (which form a cross). Sides have lower stage of horizontal planking surmounted by vertical planking. Above benches are glazed windows. Tent roof surmounted by finials. An unusual and almost unique survival of a cemetery shelter, it forms part of a good group including Cemetery Chapels (qv) and Tomb of Thomas Champion (qv).
