Terrace of 4 houses with mews arch and attached forecourt and area railings. Numbered right to left, described left to right. 1826. Stucco over brick with concealed roof and brick party-wall stacks; iron railings, first-floor verandahs and rear window guard. Double depth plan with 2-storey ranges to rear. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys on basements, 16 first-floor windows (3 per house except 4 to right). Stucco detailing includes rustication to ground floor, drawn into voussoirs over arched entrances; crowning frieze and cornice with blocking course. 6/6 and 2/2 horizontal-pane sashes where original, tall to first floor, all in plain reveals and with sills; basements have 3/3 and 3/6 sashes and C20 doors. 2 left then 2 right entrances, flights of steps (roll-edged where original) to 6-panel doors (upper panels raised and fielded, lower panels with fluted surrounds) in fluted architraves, with side-lights and raised fanlights with batwing and circle type glazing bars. Rear elevation retains 6/6 sashes (some with margin lights) and 8/8 sashes; No.4 has first-floor bow window with 8/8 sash, curved on plan, in tooled architrave. Nos 1 and 4 have round-arched 6/6 staircase sashes with radial glazing to heads, that to No.1 with margin-lights. Left return has 4 first-floor windows plus service range; 6/6 sash and blind openings. INTERIOR: retain original features, including to No.4 an open-well staircase with stick balusters and wreathed handrail; 6-panel doors, some with embellished panels and in tooled architraves with cornices; panelled shutters; plasterwork includes modillion cornice with acanthus to hall and, to first floor acanthus cornices to front rooms; some marble fireplaces. Otherwise not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: first-floor verandahs have Carron Company double-heart-and-anthemion motif to balconies, 2 Gothic arcade and 2 ornate scroll friezes with tent roofs. Bow to rear of No.4 has window guard with elongated scroll motif. Scrolled bootscrapers except to No.1. Area railings to Nos 1 and 3 have scrolled double heart motif. Forecourt railings and gates to Nos 1 and 2 have fleurs de lys to heads and urns inscribed WHEELER. Nos 3 and 4 have arrowhead railings and gates with
