Villa, now flats. 1834. Stucco over brick with concealed roof, brick and stucco lateral stacks. Central hallway plan. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic and basement, 5 first-floor windows, the central 3 break forward. Stucco detailing includes horizontal rustication to ground floor drawn into voussoirs over windows and surmounted by first-floor band, all interrupted by 4 Corinthian pilasters through ground and first floors to breakforward, surmounted by architrave, frieze and modillion cornice; second floor has pilasters to breakforward, with capitals incorporated into crowning frieze and cornice with blocking course and copings. Main floors have 2/2 horizontal-pane sashes where original; second floor has 6/6 sashes; basement has 3/6 sashes; all in plain reveals and with sills; blind boxes. Flight of 8 roll-edged steps to central entrance, Corinthian porch with pair of columns between pillars and engaged pilasters, architrave, frieze and cornice, within a 3-panel door with sidelights and overlight with margin glazing bars. Rustication, bands and cornices continue to right return. Right return: outer windows blind, paired 6/6 sashes to basement, stucco bands and cornices continue from front facade. INTERIOR: noted as having retained original features including open-well staircase with alternate stick and embellished iron balusters and wreathed handrail, plasterwork includes cornice to hall with acanthus modillions and fleurons; otherwise not inspected. HISTORICAL NOTE: Built as part of the development of this area undertaken for Joseph Pitt in 1825-42, the general layout being designed by the architect John Forbes. Occupies a corner site.
