Mayor's parlour. Late C19, incorporating a C15 building.
Dressed stone and ashlar, with ashlar dressings and slate
roofs. Single brick gable and ridge stacks, with flues set
diagonally. Gothic Revival style, harmonising with the
adjoining medieval Guildhall. Chamfered plinth, moulded first
floor sill band, coved eaves, crenellated parapet. 2 storeys,
4 bays. Ground floor has four-centred arched chamfered
openings with linked hoodmould. To left, a pair of panelled
doors. To their right, three 3-light pointed arched windows.
Above, three 2-light windows with flat heads, that to the left
set higher. To right, a canted stone oriel window on a
bracket. At the south-east corner, a round turret on a
bracket. INTERIOR not inspected.
The C15 building on this site served as the City Gaol till
1809.
