Public house. c1820. Red brick, painted stucco dressings,
coped gables, pantile roof, 2 gable stacks.
EXTERIOR: 2 storey, 3-bay front with half-glazed door and
4-pane overlight in door surround with Greek Doric
half-columns, plain frieze and cornice, flanked by tripartite
glazing bar sashes with broad segmental arches. To 1st floor 3
glazing bar sashes with splayed stucco lintels. All windows
have keystones. Bootscraper and decorative sign bracket.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORY: this inn first appeared in the license list in 1825,
and was probably built to serve the barges using the Maud
Foster drain.
