Lamp standard. Late C19. Cast- and wrought-iron. Ornamental,
with Greek and Egyptian motifs. a fluted base, tall plinth
with Greek key border, pedestal with anthemion motifs
supported on 4 claw feet, from which rises a fluted Corinthian
column with supports for lights composed of scrolled tendrils.
Now converted to electricity. On one side of the plinth a
plaque with the town arms and on the other an inscription
stating "This standard was presented to the town by Alderman
Charles Day J.P. Chairman Highways Committee to commemorate
his year in office as Mayor of the Borough 1924-5".
