House. Circa late C18. Flint with red brick dressings. Large hipped thatched roof with deeply overhanging eaves. Brick axial and side stacks with tall clay pots.
PLAN: Rectangular plan with three principal rooms and verandah at front and smaller unheated rooms and staircase at the back.
Cottage orne.
EXTERIOR: 1 storey and attic. Asymmetrical 3-window south front with deeply overhanging eaves supported on four rustic timber posts forming a verandah; 3-light casements with glazing bars and doorway to right of centre with plank door. Rear [N] two 2-light casements, plank door to left of centre and two attic dormers in thatch with small 2-light casements.
INTERIOR: Roughly chamfered and unchamfered ceiling beams, plank doors and fireplaces with C20 chimneypieces. Attics ceiled but purlins exposed.
Downhouse is a good example of a Georgian cottage orne.
