House now shop. Facade of c1800 with probably earlier origins
and c1960s shop front. Red brick, painted with concealed roof;
stone sills.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys, 2 first-floor windows. First and second
floors have 6/6 sashes; 3rd floor has 3/6 sashes, all in plain
reveals and with sills under flat arches of gauged rick. Ground
floor has renewed plate-glass shop window and off-centre right
glazed door.
INTERIOR: ground floor altered, otherwise not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: New Street had changed its name from the
medieval Glover Street by 1523. Hughes: 'New Street, in its C16
and C17 phase, was a street of dwelling-houses with workshops
behind.'
Nos 25-30 (consecutive) New Street have good group value with
listed buildings in Cornmarket (qv).
