House, now club. c1736-99 with later additions and alterations
including those c1970s. Pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond with
dark red brick arches to windows, ashlar sills, keystones and
cornice; renewed hipped cement tile roof and 2 brick stacks with
pots to rear (west). Main facade to right return: 3 storeys, 5
first-floor windows. First floor has 6/6 sashes, second floor has
3/3 sashes, all in plain reveals and with sills and flat arches
of gauged brick and with fluted keystones. Crowning frieze,
ovolo-moulded cornice and low, coped parapet. Ground loor
obscured by wall. Left return (to street): 1 first-floor window.
Ground and first floors have 6/6 sashes; second floor has 3/3
sash; all in plain reveals and with sills, flat arches of gauged
brick and fluted keystones. Inserted entrance to left, 3 steps to
6-panel door. Frieze and cornice continue from front facade. To
rear are modillion eaves.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: on the site of Trinity Gate, a small postern
gate in the city wall.
