SX87NE LINDRIDGE PARK
1519/7/420 Water Tower
23-FEB-04

II
Water tower. Circa 1913-14; probably designed by Edward White of Milner, White and Son for Lord Cable. Rock-faced rusticated grey Devon limestone with timber superstructure. Bridgwater tile hipped roof with concrete crested ridge tiles.
Square plan in Chinese style.
Stone tower with large blind round arch on each side, the north east side with cambered arch doorway. The top of the tower is corbelled out and there are curved timber brackets supporting a large timber gallery with a chinoisserie timber balustrade and posts supporting the pyramidal roof that forms the canopy of the gallery.
The water tower was probably designed by Edward White when he remodelled the gardens at Lindridge Park for Lord Cable.
An elaborate detached water tower for a country house.
