II

The memorial consists of a Grinshill sandstone stepped square plinth with pedestal in form of Roman funerary monument, surmounted by tapering obelisk, pointed at summit. It is bordered by a double railed post and rail fence.
On the front of the pedestal is an inscription which reads as follows: THIS OBELISK IS ERECTED IN HONOUR OF THE MEN FROM EATON-UNDER-HEYWOOD WHO SERVED IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918. On either side of the obelisk and supported on low inclined pedestals are bronze commemorative plaques each inscribed at the top with THE WAR MEMORIAL followed by a list of names including rank and sometimes regiment.
