House, now flats. c1786 with C20 alterations.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar to front, rubble below basement windows, rubble to rear, double pile parapeted mansard roof, Welsh slate to front and rear, coped party wall to left with two rebuilt ashlar stacks with some early clay pots, two rebuilt ashlar stacks with some early clay pots to right.
PLAN: House wider to front than rear, staircase to front.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic, basement and sub-basement, two-bay three-window range. First floor has six/six-sash in splayed reveal to left, two similar sashes paired to right, second floor similar sashes to left and right. Ground floor similar paired sashes in splayed reveals with continuous stone sill to right, to left six-panel door with flush beaded, fielded and glazed panels in beaded plain reveal with two pennant steps, to left of door small C20 window in splayed reveal. Two steps to pennant paved crossover. Basement has two paired six/six-sashes in splayed reveals with continuous stone sill, small opening to sub-basement below, door under crossover not visible, C20 area steps. One double and one single dormer with six/six-sashes in moulded architraves. Band course over ground floor, weathered sill bands to first and second floors, modillion eaves cornice and coped parapet. Evidence of blocked windows, probably later insertions, to ground, first and second floors. Rear elevation has three grouped windows with six/six-sashes to each of ground, first and second floors, one double and one single dormer with six/six-sashes in moulded architraves.
INTERIOR: In course of conversion partially inspected, has cantilevered stone well staircase with moulded soffit, mahogany grip handrail, stone paved hall. Ground floor rear right has C19 marble fireplace with late C19/early C20 grate, moulded cornice and frieze re-run round partition. Similar stone fireplace to ground floor front left. First floor rear right has C19 marble fireplace with early C20 grate and tiles. First floor front right marble and timber fireplace with frieze and cornice c1900 possibly re-using marble of earlier fireplace, marble hearth. Second floor right has stone fireplace with double architrave, frieze and cornice, grate similar to others in house. Second floor rear right has remnants of similar fireplace with early C20 alterations. C19 attic stair. Third floor front right small stone fire surround with timber shelf on brackets, remains of similar fireplace to second floor rear. Basement not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Attached wrought iron railings and gate with urn heads and urn finial to left on limestone bases.
