House, now flats. c1775 (lease dated 1774) converted C20. Probably by Thomas Warr Atwood; developed by The Corporation of Bath and Richard Atwood.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar to front and rear (partially visible); double pile parapeted mansard roof, Welsh slate to front, artificial slate to rear, with coped party wall with two stacks to left, ashlar to front, reconstituted stone to rear, with some early clay pots. Staircase to rear.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement; three window front. First floor has three plate glass horned sashes in ovolo moulded architraves with splayed jambs with friezes and cornices with lowered moulded stone sills on console brackets with wrought iron balconettes. Second floor has three plate glass horned sashes in ovolo moulded architraves with stone sills. Ground floor has two plate glass horned sashes in plain reveals with splayed jambs with stone sills to left, to right eight panel door with fielded and two glazed panels with cast iron lion's mask knocker in cyma moulded architraves with flat surround with heavy moulded console brackets with moulded cornice forming hood over, pennant paved crossover flush with pavement. Basement has two two/two sashes, to left now two/one in plain reveals with stone sills with wrought iron guard bars with shaped heads, cut-down five panel door with six pane overlight in ashlar infilling under crossover, C20 area steps. Two single dormers with six/six sashes. Band course ground floor; modillion eaves cornice and coped parapet. Moulded lead hopperhead and part-lead downpipe attached to left. Rear elevation partially visible has six/six sash to second half-landing, two/two sash to second floor, lead hopperhead at eaves to left.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Attached wrought iron railings and gate with shaped heads on limestone bases.
