No.2 Filleigh Cottage

Garden house to rear of No.40 Bathwick Hill (qv), now dwelling. c1830-1840.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, hipped slate roof with moulded lateral stacks to rear.
PLAN: Two-unit plan with hip-roofed left wing.
EXTERIOR: Single storey, symmetrical two-window front. Coped parapet and cornice encircle building. Central six-panel door (now blocked) has barrel roofed porch, trellised to front and with seats to either side, flanked by narrow paired windows six panes tall, with moulded imposts to raised semicircular arches and shared sills. To rear steps up to C20 porch and entrance.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
HISTORY: An unusually large garden house, built in the prevailing Picturesque Italianate style of Bathwick Hill.
