Ogee-arched six-flush-panel door, glazed to top with cast iron knocker, flanked by later hip-roofed stone slated lean-to running across entire front, with porch in centre and rows of four-light small-paned casement windows either side, with thicker glazing bars to Gothic overlights. Three ogee-arched six/six-pane sash windows with Gothic glazing bars to first floor with stone dressings; classical rusticated quoins, coped parapet, returned cornice and cornice band above.

HISTORY: According to the Bath Directory for 1862 James Dredge, Engineer and designer of the Victoria Bridge (qv) lived in Gothic Cottage, Sion Hill. An unusual house in terms of materials and the mixture of Gothic and classical design elements. A drawing of the cottage pre-alterations to front is in the Bath Reference Library.
