HISTORY: This garden feature, reminiscent of the style of William Kent, may possibly pre-date the building of the houses of North Parade above. A similar structure is shown in the Buck panoramic view of Bath of 1734 as a feature in Harrison's Walks, the pleasure ground which ran alongside the River Avon associated with Harrison's Rooms above: the arched feature with vase on top is shown in the location of Delia¿s Grotto. Believed to be scene of Richard Sheridan's versification to Elizabeth Linley before their elopement (see 1 Pierrepont Place).
