Pair of houses in row. Mid C19 with C20 alterations.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, concrete tile or slate.
PLAN: Built at one time, No.156 has been raised one.
EXTERIOR: Single storey. No.154, with concrete tile, has double roof, with external stacks, in two storeys and three windows, all twelve-pane sash at first floor and plain below, with, off centre right, early C20 door with Art Nouveau glazing under a deep transom light and glazed canopy. Deep mid platband, stacks to left have been raised to master higher gable here. Straight joint in masonry, but ashlar coursing same, and platband continues to No.156, in two parts, three storeys and attic with steep slated mansard roof, returned to left hand end, having tall dormer with sash, and plain sash at each level, with plat bands. To left, and set back, square tower in four storeys, with four-pane sash, and flat roofed porch brought forward with C19 door with transom light in deep reveals, and glazed canopy. Right gable plain, with stacks, right half has box eaves with gutter mould, and tower has cornice and blocking course.
