Shops with accommodation over. c1810 with C20 additions.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, No.11 has a pantile roof, roof of No.12 not visible from street.
PLAN: Single depth plan, No.11 has splayed corner with elevations to Northumberland Place and Union Passage (qv).
EXTERIOR: Three storeys and attic, three windows each, two coupled to left of each front, one to corner and one to return. All windows are sashes in plain reveals. No.11 has all late C19 plate glass plain sashes. No.12 has all early C19 type six/six-sashes. No.11 has two blind windows, top left on main front, and top on Union Passage. 1901 shop to No.12 by W Palmer, and mid-C20 shop to No.11. Cornice, parapet, mansard roof, one dormer to each, paired to No.11, plain sashes, flat topped to No.12.
INTERIOR: No.11 has altered staircase and not otherwise of interest. No.12 not seen.
HISTORY: Northumberland Place was built on the site of a medieval close, Marchant's Court, which is clearly shown on Gilmore's Map of 1694.
