Description

Balfour Paul (Rowand Anderson, Kininmonth and Paul,
Architects, Edinburgh), 1927-28. Asymmetrical 2-storey house
with main NW entrance front, and SW and SE garden front. All
random grey granite dressings.
Off-centre entrance with simple flat-headed moulded
doorpiece; further entrance in SE garden front under
loggia/balcony flanked by projecting bay with ogee roof.
3-bay SW front with canted windows in ground floor outer
bays. 1st floor windows break wallhead under piended
bellcast gablets. Multi-pane glazing; ridge stacks; local
slate roof. Interior: entrance lobby leads to inner
stairhall. Polished oak staircase with simple balustrade and
octagonal newel with carved hare finial. Plain moulded
cornices to drawing- and dining room ceilings.
Lodge: probably Balfour Paul, 1927-28. Single storey,
symmetrical 3-bay SE front. Harled; tooled grey granite
centre recessed entrance; multi-pane metal casement
windows. Granite base course; tall end stacks; piended local
slate roof.

Commanding site over Spey Valley. Lodge sited in garden

to rear of house.
