Early 19th century. Single storey, 4-bay, rectangular-plan cottage with later additions and alterations. Tooled, snecked sandstone rubble with broached dressings. Projecting cills; long and short quoins.
NW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: asymmetrical; boarded timber door to penultimate bay to right, flanked to left by small vertical windows; window to penultimate bay to left; bipartite window to bays to outer left and outer right. Harled additions with central 4-pane window and piended slate roofs flank cottage to left and right.
SW and NE ELEVATIONS: obscured by harled additions (see above).
SE ELEVATION: not seen 1998.
Predominantly 6-pane timber sash and case windows. Red pantiled roof with slate easing course and terracotta ridge. Harled coped gablehead stacks with circular cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
B Group with Carrington Village, Nos. 2, 3, 4 Carrington Mains Cottages, Carrington Mains Steading and Carrington Mains Farmhouse (see separate listings). Carrington Village was built to serve Carrington Mains (see separate listing) which is part of Rosebery Estate.
