Description

Built 1857. 6-bay rectangular-plan Gothic church with
perpendicular detail. Sneaked rubble with stugged ashlar
main elevation. entrance in advanced central bay flanked
by stepped pinnacled buttresses. Door under 4-centred
arch with moulded reveals and flat hood-mould with label
stops. Approached by flanking steps with gabled piers and
decorative cast-iron balustrade. Large perpendicular
traceried, 3-light window over door has finialled ogival
hood-mould and label stops. Square-plan corbelled bellcote
with squat, broached spire. Similarly detailed windows in
outer bays. Coped gable end with moulded string course
below. Plain galleried interior; clock by J. Aitken Dalry,
set in balcony; pair stained and leaded-glass memorial
windows flanking pulpit, in memory of Thomas Biggart, and
dated 1877.
