Description

1577 (dated) in present form; 2-storey basement and attic
harled with margins or mouldings; round entrance - stair
tower at N.E. corbelled to square at 1st with
polygonally-headed doorway with 3 armorial panels over;
gunport. Original tower house c.1440, demolished; basement
and ground floor of present building 15th cent; both vaulted,
ground floor has 3 fine pendant bosses (restored Ann.
Henderson); 1st floor and attic probably 1577 period, walls
intaken at 1st floor level; interior remodelled Archibald
Simpson and recently again; his addition at N.W. lately
demolished; considerable repair and restoration from 1955
onwards.
