Circa 1870. 2-storey, 3-bay house with 2-storey, 2-bay rear
wing. Main frontage of dark stugged or 'Aberdeen bonded'
whinstone with extensive use of contrasting tooled pale
granite dressings; harl pointed gables; street front of rear
wing of tooled pale grey granite with contrasting dark
whinstone stugging. Advanced and gabled centre bay in main
front with doorway; mainly 12-pane glazing. Coped end stacks;
local slate roof.
Low coped wall with cast-iron railings encloses front garden;
pedestrian entrance flanked by square tooled ashlar gatepiers
with shallow pyramidal caps; coped rubble walls elsewhere.
Fine example of stugged or 'Aberdeen bonded' masonry, more
frequently found in Aberdeenshire and NE of Scotland than
elsewhere.
