Description

1834 for Thomas Elmslie, woollen manufacturer. 2-storey,
3-windows widely spaced, harled with margins, gabled.
Centre bay projects slightly with pediment, wood Greek
Ionic column porch; tripartite doorway with fanlight,
excellent woodwork at side lights. Back wing 1923, rebuilding
of original house, 1821 datestone inset.

Statement of Interest

Of Elmslie's carding and spinning establishment (see

N.S.A.v. XII p. 827) only a depression marking the site

of the dam remains.
