Early 19th century. Single-storey cottage, birthplace of S R
Crockett, local historian and writer. Raised in brick to
2-storeys with pair of gabled dormers later 20th-century.
Modern harled frontage, rubble to ground floor, brick to 1st
floor.
Central gabled painted brick porch flanked by sash windows
with 4-pane glazing pattern slate roof, end skews, end coped
stacks. Rear elevation with modern plate glass windows, flat bituminous-felt roofed dormers. Single-storey lean-to rubble
offshoot to right. Adjoining single-storey rubble-built byre
range. Blocked cart arch to extreme right, 2 doors, 2
windows, one slit ventilator. Slate roofs, end skews.
Further detached single-storey range at right angles to S.
former mill building to left side is taller than byre with
single cart-arch and door. Foundations of horsemill visible
to S of mill.
Slate roofs, end skews, sandstone ridge.
