Early 19th century. Wide, square-ended quay, built mostly of
large squared red rubble blocks: curved south west corner and
south wall built of rough rubble, suggesting different
building date. North side has stone steps leading to
waterline is kept silt-free by stream. Some wooden bollards.
Modern buildings at south and at east ends.
1st quay built here in 1746. Built to accommodate ships too
large to reach Dumfries.
