Quadrangular churchard, rubble-built ashlar-coped walls,
stile and gates on west wall. Many interesting 17th-19th
century monuments are within, including simple,
rectangular-plan Ferguson of Isle mausoleum (erected 1770;
droved red ashlar, with rusticated quoins), and tombs of the
Griersons. Lairds of Lag.
The RCAHM INVENTORY, 1920, notes the Grierson of Lag
monuments (No. 149).
A stone from Lag tower is incorporated in Sir Robert
Grierson's (d.1733) monument (erected 1897); for this see
DUMFRIES & GALLOWAY STANDARD & ADVERTISER 20.10.1897.
