Dated 1890. U-plan courtyard of single-storey cottages. Squared and snecked red sandstone rubble, slate roofs, masonry ridges, gable and ridge stacks. Coped gables and stacks, moulded skewputts. Distinctive gabletted entrance at centre with doocot ledge with row of 5 flight holes. Glazing altered.
Auchmithie village stands on an elevated site overlooking the North sea. It is irregularly planned and consists of simple uniformly-designed fisher cottages, generally dating from the 18th century, some rebuilt in the 1860's. Regrettably, most have been much altered in recent years (1992). No longer a fishing village, Auchmithie is also of historical interest as the "Musselcrag" of Scotts' Antiquary.
