Cottage: early 19th century, probably replacing earlier
cottage near the site. Rubble-built single storey,
3-bay cottage with lower 2-bay wing set back on west gable;
central projecting porch, 4-pane glazing pattern. End
stacks pantiled roof, slate easing course, low front retaining
wall incorporating remains of earlier cottage, a lintel
dated 1761 survives. Monument: Set into wall (evidence of
blocked window to left). 2 margined panels set one above
the other with a simple crowning pediment. Probably late 18th
century. Inscription on top panel indecipherable, that
to lower, relating freehold status quoted in notes.
Inscription on monument: "Sir Michael Malcolm of the house
by..... action in the Court of Session (of much curiosity)
was in 1766 put upon the roll of Kinross-shire Freeholders
for Binn the Estate being restored as twenty shillings
lands of old extents and so was said not to be a 40 shilling
land."
