3-storey and basement mill building on steeply sloping site: rubble-built: peind roofed wheel house at basement level containing waterwheel approx. 18' dia. and 10' wide:

circumference gearing: C.I. transmission shaft with gearing

rises externally up face of main building. Rock-cut tail

race.

Historic interest: Macdonald reports that James Grimond

was the first spinner induced by Jas. Watt to make a

trial of jute (p. 167)
