Description

Early 19th century, roughly U-plan court flanked by
farmhouse, steading and ancillary buildings of later dates.
Farmhouse: 2 storey, 6 bays (now 2 dwellings); harled. Some
12-pane glazing survives; corniced ridge stacks; piended
slate roof.
Steading: 2 storey, 7-bay steading range, white-washed
rubble, with square centre tower rising 1 stage above
roofline. Honey-comb dressed ashlar to lower tower stage,
ashlar above, each stage divided by band course;
round-headed, keystoned doorways to centre ground and 1st
floors (1st floor door taller with evidence of hoist above).
3 blind square flightholes to each face of tower at upper
stage, under wide eaved pyramidal slate roof with ball
finial. Cart bays to rear; also much altered Lochalsh type
hay barn. Small vaulted ice house in bank to rear of house.

Statement of Interest

Some unfortunate modern glazing to farm house. No evidence of

pigeon accommodation in tower. Icehouse appears on 1872 OS.
