Description

Circa 1809. 2-storey range with centre 3-bay house with
centre door and slightly set back lower 2-storey, 2-bay
flanking wings. Harl pointed rubble, ashlar dressings.
Centre door masked by later rustic wooden porch; flanking
tripartites with thick wooden mullions; 16-pane glazing
in upper 1st floor windows of centre block. 12-pane
elsewhere. Rusticated quoins; eaves band to centre block;
corniced end stacks; slate roof.
Interior; plain interior with early 19th century simple
decorative plaster friezes in ground floor rooms, centre
portion.

Statement of Interest

"A handsome and commodious house" built by Capt Robert

Sutherland. (1820). Now empty, but was for many years the

house of the Headmaster of the Golspie Technical School

built close by in 1903.
