Description

Thomas Telford, circa 1815. 3 parallel tunnels, the centre with segmental headed arch ring, the outer with round-headed arches, each approximately 260' long passing under the Caledonian Canal, carrying the River Loy through centre tunnel. Flanking tunnels for pedestrian/animal use, and as flood arches when necessary. High semi-circular winged abutments of squared tooled rubble, with tooled rubble copes. Tooled ashlar arch rings and triangular cutwaters, refaced to south with cement rendering.

Statement of Interest

Roadways paved with stone cobbles. They give access to fields and farmland isolated between Caledonian Canal and River Lochy.

Statutory address in 2020. Previously listed as 'Caledonian Canal, Acqueduct over the River Loy'.
