Probably David Rhind, 1847. 2-storey, 7-bay east facing
symmetrical fronted stable range; all squared rubble with
tooled ashlar dressings. Centre segmental headed arched
entrance to stable court in slightly advanced centre bay,
with window and blind occulus above, and apex of gable
rising into gabletted and finialled bellcote with cast-iron
weathervane. Flanking ranges with paired narrow centre
lights, and each with 1st floor windows rising through
wallhead, the centre in enlarged and finialled gablet.
Entrance to dwelling in return end gables each with ground
and 1st floor windows; further paired 2-bay dwellings
in similar style to rear. Horizontal 8-pane glazing;
corniced end and ridge stacks at rear; slate roofs.
Diagonal weatherboarded ranges at rear, through stable
arch and court.
Remains of former Achnacarry Castle stand close to stables.
Plans for stables designed by David Rhind, 24, Northumberland
St., Edinburgh, (dated 1847) held at Achnacarry House.
