1864. Probably Joseph Hansom. Tall 1st pointed Gothic church,
nave, chancel and N aisle orientated E/W. Coursed red rubble
tooled ashlar dressings. Centre pointed-headed entrance in
tall, austere W gable; paired narrow windows above linked
by continuous hoodmould; gable wheel window with plate
tracery; angle buttresses. 5-bay N and S buttressed flanks
with further off-centre entrance in S elevation; Y-traceried
windows. Gable chancel at E with transepts, at S linked to
presbytery. Mainly leaded-pane glazing; bellcote at E gable
of nave; slate roofs.
Interior; arcaded at N with small Lady Chapel E; tall Gothic
arch frames chancel with nailhead detailing; marble altar;
panelled pine dado and pine pews; gallery at W, timber
ceiling.
Burial ground; burial ground and presbytery enclosed by harl
pointed rubble wall with roughly crenellated cope.
Presbytery; 2-storey, 3-bay asymmetrical dwelling; red
rubble, tooled ashlar dressings. Gabled right bay with gabled
porch in re-entrant angle; tripartites in ground and 1st
floor; canted bay window in S garden front; 2-pane glazing;
coped end stacks; decorative bargeboards; slate roof.
