Description

Dated 1866, incorporating some earlier work. Style of
Alexander Ross. Scottish Baronial asymmetrical 2-storey and
attic house over raised basement. Rubble with tooled ashlar
dressings.
Gabled with off-centre entrance in projecting central drum
corbelled to square over ground floor; approached by steps
oversailing raised basement with stone balustrade and ball
finials; shallow segmental headed lintel with datestone above
and corbelled oriel in 1st floor.
To right shallow rectangular bay windows; similar canted
window in garden front; mainly 2-pane glazing.
Slender drum tower in SE re-entrant angle rises above
wallheaded terminating with conical fishscale slated roof and
cast-iron weathervane; angle bartizans at 1st floor level
SW and NE also with conical roofs; gabletted dormers;
crowstepped gables; corbelled detailing; 1866 rainwater
goods; batteries of square and octagonal stacks; slate
roofs. Modern harled single storey additions to rear.
Interior; wooden stair with turned barley-sugar twist
balusters and ball finials to newels; moulded door jambs
and panelled doors; original chimney-pieces; plaster cornices
to ceilings.

White of Monar and Lentran.
