Description

Kindeace House: late 18th/early 19th century core; additions

and alterations, Alexander Ross, 1869. Further additions and alterations, Reginald Fairlie, 1931. 2 storey and attic house

over raised basement, 5 bays. Harled, tooled ashlar margins

and dressings. Slightly advanced centre bay with centre door

in moulded architrave approached by wide flight steps

oversailing raised basement; 1930's wrought-iron balustrade;

stepped and moulded string course above door; paired windows

in 1st floor with pointed headed attic window above in gable;

flanking dummy bartizans, gabletted crowsteps and finial. 2

(1869) gabletted dormers with ball finials. Single window in

ground floor, east and west gables, with coat of arms above

in recessed panel, and blind cruciform vent above. 2-pane

glazing; gabletted gable crowsteps. Later shallow projecting

wing to rear. Stables: Alexander Ross, 1869. Single storey

and attic, U-plan block linked to rear of main house by

harled and coped retaining walls forming rectangular court.

Projecting and crowstepped gable end bays with centre court

roofed by canopy. Carriage house, left, with pointed headed

window above, cottage right with similar 1st floor window.

Centre ridge bellcote with weather vane; end stacks; slate

roof.
